Seven Days in Jordan: From Ammanโs Glow to Petraโs Wonder to Wadi Rum Protected Area and back to the Dead Sea - something for everyone!
Day 1: Touching Down in Amman
Upon our evening arrival in Amman, hunger pangs led us straight to the hotelโs sports bar. While Matt eagerly dove into a juicy chicken schwarma, I chose to savour the creaminess of local hummus paired with fluffy pitta (famed in Middle Eastern cuisine). A sumptuous start! With our appetites satiated, we eagerly anticipated the adventures the next day held.
Day 2: Delving into Ammanโs Heart
Morning greeted us with a lavish breakfast buffet spread at our hotel, fuelling us for a day of exploration. Venturing into central Amman, our first pit-stop was the historic Citadel. And just a stone's throw away? The magnificent Roman Theatre. Talk about an impressive introduction to the city!

We meandered through Amman's bustling streets, soaking in its vibrant pulse - from the sights and echoes of the central souq to the aromatic whiffs that wafted around. Our intrigue with local culture led us to a shop selling traditional Jordanian headscarves; a Keffiyeh that originated amongst the Arab People as a practical and protective covering for the head and face, especially in the arid desert climate in which they have traditionally lived. The gracious shopkeeper didnโt just sell us one, but also demonstrated the authentic way to wear it.
By lunchtime, our wanderings brought us to Al Quds, home to Ammanโs finest falafel! It did not disappoint! True to its reputation, the meal was not only pocket-friendly but an explosion of flavours! Our day in Amman concluded with a stroll down the eclectic Rainbow Street, showcasing another facet of this multifaceted city.
But Amman was just the beginning. With our car's engine revving, we set our sights south, racing down the Desert Highway, with Petra beckoning on the horizon...
2.5 hours later. We drive over a hill and reach Wadi Musa, the small town adjacent to Petra. After checking in and quick freshens up, we head out for dinner in town, with a view and beautiful sunset over Petra.
